Goodyear launches the world’s largest agricultural tire

The world's biggest farm tires

Titan International has just unveiled the world’s largest agricultural tires. Titan International subsidiary Goodyear presents the OPTITRAC LSW1400 / 30R46, a new tire in the Goodyear ExtremeFlotation range featuring Low Sidewall technology.

The tire is 1400 mm wide, making it the widest agricultural tire in the world. It is considered a viable alternative to tracks and twins, generally used on large four-wheel-drive tractors. Extreme Flotation technology enables agricultural tires to offer farmers the right combination of traction, ride quality and pressure on the ground.

According to Scott Sloan, director of agricultural products at Titan and Goodyear, the company developed the new tire to meet the growing demand for wide tires. Many people are beginning to rethink the traditional concept that twins work well in all applications, as twins can lead to unnecessary soil compaction. The company had already tested this concept for tractors and combines, and now offers this type of tire as an option for four-wheel-drive tractors.

The LSW1400 / 30R46 is part of the OPTITRAC range, Goodyear’s most popular R1W radial design. The new size is particularly suited to high-powered 4-wheel-drive tractors such as the John Deere 9000 series or Case Steigers. This tire reduces compaction compared with the 710 / 70R42 or 800 / 70R38 twin-types. Goodyear’s twins cause toe-line compaction and rutting between tires.

This 1400 / 30R46 tire can be inflated to a pressure of 3.2 bar and can support 14.5t at a speed of 40 km/h.
